On Tuesday, Atlanta-based indie folk band Besides Daniel released their long-awaited new single “Wyoming,” available exclusively on iTunes. The song is accompanied with a music video, which is available for viewing on YouTube.
The song is soothing and melodic at first, featuring simple instrumentation with light vocals. However, the song gradually builds up emotions and tension by constantly adding layers of sound for a hair-raising ending.
“The song is a bit cryptic. I meander through lyrics until a climax into a repeating refrain of, ‘upon your body, I am building’…” says Danny Brewer, the lead singer/guitarist of Besides Daniel. “Perhaps it stands as an ‘insert your own meaning’ sort of song. It’s very special to me.”
The music video for “Wyoming” is equally as compelling as the song. It is mostly centered on Danny, who remains mysteriously stoic until the last few minutes of the song. When the sound has finished building, we see Danny holding nothing back by putting all of his emotions towards the creation and climax of the song, ending it beautifully.
In the video we see the band, comprised of Brewer on vocals and guitar, Jimmy Conley on bass and Taylor Moseley on drums. The director of photography is Aaron Schorch and editing was done by Michael Morales.
